Goals of WAND

The Toolbox will provide a web-based platform for:
  • Exchanging best practices, lessons learned, and case studies;
  • On-line expert-to-expert discussions;
  • Searching international agreements on water and sanitation to support the identification of guidelines, commitments, and/or policy recommendations that might apply to your work.
Inputs to the toolbox will be accepted through the web-site and from major international and regional meetings on water and sanitation including, but not limited to, the UN Commission on Sustainable Development, Stockholm Water Week, The World Water Forum.

Expected Outcomes of WAND

It is expected that the WAND will advance implementation of the internationally agreed goals on water and sanitation by providing state-of-the-art information to those doing the work. Users will be able to enter the site and quickly come away with a region-specific collection of best practices, a list of experts, and relevant international guidance in the project areas that concern them. The best of the world should be at their fingertips.

Expected benefits of WAND

The above functions of the WAND will facilitate the governments to utilize up-to-date good practices from other countries and outcomes of global initiatives, which could lead to the effective implementation of policies and projects in line with the issues identified in the CSD13 decision document and action plan. Such benefits of the WAND will contribute to identify the necessary processes and concrete solutions for achieving MDGs and JPOI, and will assist countries in implementing them in an efficient way by referring to the latest cases by other countries or relevant information.
